The Brentwood Christian School cross country team is gearing up for a strong 2025 season.
With senior sisters Harper Counts and Hailyn Counts anchoring the girls team, and senior Nico Napper leading a young boys squad, the Bears will look to return to the top five of TAPPS 5A this season after finishing outside that position for the first time in several years in 2024.
Hailyn Counts took steps toward making that happen for the girls, winning the varsity division at the Savio Early Bird Invitational with a 12:45 race. It was an excellent start to the season for the senior, who is looking to continue to push toward the 12-minute two-mile threshold as the season continues.
Junior Lynden Worley was BCS' next best finisher (14:22), followed by sophomore Scarlet Harlan (15:28), freshman Lowary Smith (16:00) and junior Madi Clark (16:35). The Lady Bears finished fifth as a team.
Elsewhere, Napper was the fastest finisher for the boys, with a time of 18:35 in the 5K. Sophomore Henry Belcik clocked in at 21:00, junior Evan Berger at 21:04, junior Xavier Parra at 21:31 and freshman Nathan Johanson at 23:36. The boys finished fourth.
