Ally Robertson is someone everyone knows. Her beautiful smile and extreme thoughtfulness have set her apart since she joined Brentwood as a sophomore in 2023.
Despite only being on campus for three years, Ally is wholeheartedly involved. She is dedicated in ways you would never imagine.
From being the Editor-in-Chief of the Bear Facts Newspaper, to being a light on the soccer team, to the difficult AP classes in the classroom, she aims for the stars.
“Ally is the perfect combination of dedicated and thoughtful,” said her English and newspaper teacher, Ethan Grant. “As dedicated as Ally is to her own success, she never neglects to look out for the needs and interests of others, and that’s what sets her apart.”
She has now worked hard through three years on the newspaper staff, with two under her belt as the editor. Ally is a natural writer and took on the role with ease. Newspaper has caused Ally many long nights and hard hours, especially not being in the class this year, but she has still helped produce many wonderful papers.
“Newspaper made me and Ally friends super quickly,” said junior Ella Kennedy, another long-time newspaper editor. “She writes amazingly and takes on most of the work load herself.”
Robertson has also taken six AP classes at BCS including Biology, English Language, English Literature, Computer Science, Calculus, and Government.
Shortly after joining Brentwood Christian School, Ally joined the soccer team, continuing through her senior year. She has much skill and leadership in this area and has contributed to the team as a starter all three years.
“Ally is amazing on the soccer team,” said junior Kali Whitmire. “She laughs at all my jokes, even the ones that are not funny.”
One of Ally’s favorite things to do is to go and enjoy coffee. She goes to a new coffee shop every Saturday. She also loves to thrift, hammock, be outside, read and write, travel, and try new things.
Some of Ally’s favorite memories throughout her time at Brentwood Christian School are all of the bus rides with the soccer team, playing cards when there's no work in class, releasing all of the newspaper editions, and spending time with friends at lunch and in the hallways.
She also loves the teacher-to-student relationships at BCS. She loves how much the teachers know and care about their students and laments the fact that is not the case at public schools.
Ally is not only dedicated in the classroom or on the field but in her faith as well. She is bold and empathetic Biblically, and has been a “light” on the campus since day one.
“She is not afraid to proclaim her faith, or stand up for what she believes in,” said friend and senior Abby Rackley. “She displays her faith every day through her kindness and love for everyone, especially her inclusiveness and protectiveness of her friends.”
She attends Westover Hills Church of Christ, where she is involved in the youth group. As the Senior Youth Intern at Westover, she is involved in planning events and activities. She has been on mission trips, retreats, and multiple service projects. She has a passion for the Lord and His call in her life and it’s evident to those who know her.
“Ally is such an amazing influence and person to be around,” said dear friend Addie McGaughy. “She has a love for Jesus that shines through in her everyday life.”
When asked to describe Ally in one word, words that came up from her friends, classmates and teachers were: beautiful, majestic, compassionate, loving, organized, thoughtful, genuine, expressive, empathetic, and kind, to name a few.
Another word that didn’t come up but fits - authentic. When she is happy, friends will know. Stressed? Easy to spot. As her friend, senior Amir Dadashazar, put it, Ally is “expressive” in her everyday life, and she doesn’t compartmentalize for anyone. The Ally you find in the classroom is the Ally you will find at home and in the soccer field.
“I value relationships a whole lot,” said Ally. “Within my faith, I strive to bring others to Jesus' love as much as I can, and show how much Jesus values them in the way that I treat others.
“I value respect, and I value authenticity, especially from my friends.”
Robertson has impacted the lives of many and she hopes that she has affected many in the classroom specifically.
“I hope I have improved Brentwood within my class,” said Robertson. “I always try to be someone that anyone can talk to, and I also think that from a leadership standpoint, I am willing to step up when others are shy or tired or whatever the case is.”
Ally plans to attend George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, and major in Social Work, but she is trusting God’s plan and direction with her next steps.
No matter where she goes, or what she decides to do with her life, Robertson will make an impact wherever she goes. From her kind heart to her expressive spirit, she will continue to lead others to Christ. Ally is going to change the lives of everyone she comes into contact with just like she has changed the lives of the people she has come into contact with at Brentwood.
“Ally is very hard-working wherever she goes,” said close friend and classmate, senior Hannah Hanrahan. “She works hard to balance her school, social and church life while always keeping Jesus at the forefront of her mind.
“She is super fruitful wherever she is and especially shows it through her generosity and willingness to put others before herself.”
