This year's Brentwood Christian School volleyball team will have its work cutout for itself in August, with a busy game and tournament schedule prior to TAPPS District 2-5A play beginning on Sept. 4.
First-year head coach Cheyanne Lovelady, who joined the Lady Bears over the summer from Brownwood, has inherited a team in flux, with only one player (senior Addison Everline) with varsity experience returning.
However, a dedicated group of underclassmen and new faces is sure to help BCS improve and compete in a tough district and region as it looks to avenge last year's first-round playoff defeat to Lubbock Trinity under former head coach Paula Trejos. Among them include sisters Jolie Shepard (senior) and sister Noelle (junior), who will be counted on heavily in the front row, and sophomores Natalie Weed, Chloe Krudwig and Addie McGaughy, all making the leap from last year's JV team.
The team will open up its official season schedule this week with a dual match in Thorndale on Tuesday before visiting the annual tournament at Round Rock Westwood, starting Thursday.
