Brentwood Christian School’s varsity girls soccer team had a tough season in the win column. The Lady Bears kept working and looking for ways to improve, and will return to the field in the 2026-27 season with their sights set on major growth.
Head coach Emma Hinson and the squad spent the majority of the year staying focused on growing together and playing with confidence. It was a major focus to not give up when the score was lopsided, and overall, the growth from match-to-match was encouraging.
Wins and losses are never the most important aspect of athletics at BCS, and many on the team took solace in their experience being led and centered on Christ.
“The girls grew closer to God by praying over one another every game and keeping Him on our minds as we played,” said junior Ava Cavada. “Knowing that we were playing for His glory, we grew closer with each other through team bonding in practices and we became a family as the season went on.”
The team had only one senior, Ally Robertson, and a heavy mix of freshmen and sophomores. While they finished 2-9, both victories, 4-0 over Waco Live Oak and Veritas, were in dominant fashion.
“My favorite game was when we played Veritas because we played well as a team and the score reflected that,” said freshman Erin Lee.
Talented freshmen in Lee and Trinity Martinez have the team excited about the future. Areas of growth for next season include giving effort and staying disciplined, handling pressure, winning 50-50 balls and fighting through every whistle.
Those areas of growth were on display in the game versus rival Hyde Park on Jan. 28, when BCS had its chances and played well. Despite a 2-1 loss, players can see improvement, are committed and excited for next season.
“I had the best season with that group of girls,” said Cavada.
